Two Cipher Interviews on Being a Man’s Man, Anonymity, and Gender
From “Queer,” Vol. XI, Issue 7, by Tay Wiles.
During sixth block of 2008, CC students Chris Robinson and Garrett Adams anonymously posted the satirical flier The Monthly Bag in campus bathrooms in retaliation against what they perceived to be the radical content of the feminist and gender studies interns’ The Monthly Rag. The outcry on campus was immediate, and President Dick Celeste sent out a campus-wide email imploring the writers of The Monthly Bag to come forward, which Robinson and Adams did. In the aftermath of The Monthly Bag’s publication, former Cipher editor Tay Wiles sat down with Robinson to discuss his perceptions of feminism, sexism, masculinity, and the point of satire.— EC
